On Tuesday night, January 30, 2007, Seacoast Church Greenville worship leader Chris Sligh's American Idol
audition aired.
Here's some of the Seacoast gang at my audition
party for Chris. From left to right... Adam
& his wife Megan [he plays guitar on
the tracks], Chris & his wife Sarah,
Jay & his wife Amy [he also plays guitar
on the tracks], campus pastor Chris Surratt & his wife Jenny, assistant pastor Ross
and me on the end.
I met Chris when I started working with the
Seacoast worship team last year. Because
of unusually similar backgrounds we became
BFFs and he started singing on my new HymnCharts
recordings [you can hear soundclips on the
right side of the homepage.] He's a talented singer, equally at home
with opera or rock, and is a fantastic songwriter
and arranger [his "Blessed Assurance"
arrangement is the only non-Don Chapman arrangement
on the website!]

02.12.07 Chris makes the tabloids. His diet tips
[hilariously ripped from his blog and made
to look like an exclusive interview] are
in this week's The Globe. Find it at your local supermarket!
02.13.07 The Internet buzz is that Chris's Hollywood
round group, along with Tom Lowe, Blake Lewis
and Rudy Cardenes, is the best ever. Radio
stations are reportedly peeling the audio
off the video and playing it. The video clip
is in AOL's top 5, making it the second time
Chris has appeared there.
02.14.07 Chris makes it to the top 24! As he walks
up to the judges, he states "I bet you
all are wondering why I've called this meeting."

been an amazing journey, from driving him
to his first audition in Birmingham to hearing
Ryan Seacrest say to him last night "Chris
Sligh - you're safe!" I'm so proud of
my friend - it's wonderful to see someone
with talent get ahead for a change.
The top 10 is an important milestone - he
has basically "made it" as far
as having the chance at a full time career
in music. Each of last year's top 10 contestants
now have record deals. Chris will also tour
this summer with the other 9, and as far
as money goes, let's just say he no longer
will have to worry about coming up with the
rent every
month : )
