Hymn Ideas: O Come, O Come > ideas > home
by Don Chapman
Happy Thanksgiving! If you're a worship leader,
what's really on your mind right now is Christmas.
Add a touch of mystery to your Christmas
praise sets with the ancient hymn "O
Come, O Come Emmanuel."
It was sung in the medieval
church each night,
seven nights before Christmas.

This year, try something similar: open each
praise set in December by doing a verse and
chorus of "O Come, O Come Emmanuel,"
then seque into an upbeat praise song or
contemporary carol arrangement in E major.
Churches with a more liturgical bent might
also integrate the lighting of the Advent
Candle.
I've just mixed an audio
demo for "O
Come, O Come Emmanuel,"
and my HymnCharts
tracks are unlike any others
you can purchase.
With most tracks you're
stuck with what they
give you - with mine, I've
created 1, 2,
3 and 4 verse versions.
If you want to sing
the entire song, use the
4 track version.
If you want to open your
praise set with
just a verse, chorus and
chorus repeat, use
the 1 verse version.
