From HymnCharts arranger Don Chapman:

The first verse of “Silent Night” is the perfect opportunity to give a talented teen (like the one I’ve recorded on the vocal demo) a special, short solo during your Christmas Eve service. Let him or her sing the first verse while your congregation lights candles, then invite them to join with your praise team on the other verses.

I had planned on creating a guitar-driven version of “Silent Night” this year, but things don’t always turn out the way you want 🙂 I sat down at the keyboard this summer and immediately started playing the music box-type intro and loved it. The whole thing seemed to arrange itself in about ten minutes! Maybe next year I’ll have a guitar arrangement.
